Area V September 2010 Report

Recent Developments:

Last June brought some changes in Area V. Division 70 has a single president, Sharon Uyeda, who shared the job with our veteran, Haroldine Fieldhouse. Division 26 elected a new President, Terry Cruz, who last served as Vice President. Division 6 has elected Milly Powell to be President. She served as a Co-President with Roger Evans during her last term. Division 17 has elected Philip Morris and Sandy Healy as Co-Presidents. They have previously served jointly. Division 86 has had a most wrenching change. Irene Lane and Richard Benitez, who served as Co-Presidents, became quite ill. Richard is recovering from his illness and is being supported by a wonderful board. Unfortunately, Irene passed away. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Division Visits:

During late May and early June, I had the pleasure of attending luncheons and installing officers at divisions 70, 29, 26, 6 and 7. I had the honor to assist at Division 23, which was also a celebration of their twentieth year of being a division. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend meetings in the other divisions, due to date conflicts.

Fall Workshop:

Area V's Fall Workshop planning is almost complete. President-Elect Joe Dion will be speaking, as will Robert Petty, Alliance of Aging Director of Community Education. Besides break-out sessions, we are planning to cover a variety of topics in a round-table discussion setting. We still need to prune our list of topics, because there isn't enough time to cover all of them. This promises to be a very active year, calling for more input and participation by the members of Area V.
